What is CASCAID?
CASCAID (Community Advocacy Support Center) is a community service project of the Western Debate Union. The CASCAID Conference is an opportunity for advocates, academics, and activists to come together to exchange ideas. Our goal is to provide discussion, instruction and connections for improving advocacy skills and building relationships and community.  The conference is a chance to share experiences, perspectives, and methods related to building civil discourse, participatory political action, and awareness.

What to submit?
CASCAID is seeking contributions that address the general promotion of advocacy relation to this year’s theme: Global Health.  There are two main components to this conference.  The first involves educational workshops and training sessions.  The second involves academic paper panels.  These panels are composed of undergraduate and graduate students who are looking for a forum to present their research and ideas related to Global Health.  All panels will have a respondent to give feedback and facilitate conversation.  You may submit anything that you think belongs at a conference on Global Health, including but not limited to:

~ Papers (completed or abstracts) ~ Workshops ~ Discussion Forums and Panels ~ Training Sessions ~ Art ~ Film ~

Who should submit?
Anyone with original works and ideas from either the community or campus should submit proposals.  Undergraduates are particularly encouraged to submit papers. The top paper submitted by an undergraduate student (as judged by a neutral panel of respondents) will be awarded the CASCAID Contribution to Advocacy Award and a $250 cash scholarship. Relevant papers that have been used for classes throughout the past school year are acceptable, with any necessary minor modifications to make it applicable to the conference theme. While there are no length requirements, papers should be of a scholarly quality.

When should you submit?
Priority Deadline for full consideration is April 23, 2010. Papers and proposals received by this date will receive notification of acceptance within a few days. Following this date, submissions will be admitted on a case-by-case basis. Abstracts are okay to submit for consideration, but full papers are due 1 week prior to the conference for consideration of the undergraduate cash scholarship.
