What is the CASCAID Conference? |

|
The CASCAID Conference at Western Washington University is an opportunity for advocates, academics, and activists to come together to exchange ideas. Our goal is to provide discussion, instruction, and connections for improving advocacy skills and building relationships and community. The conference is a chance to share experiences, perspectives, and methods related to building civil discourse and grassroots political action and awareness. The theme for this year’s conference is: Social Justice. |

What are we looking for? |

|
CASCAID is seeking contributions that address the promotion of advocacy as well as examinations of the concept as regards this year’s theme of social justice. There are two main components to this conference. The first consists of educational and training workshops, the second is comprised of academic panels. These panels are composed of faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates who are looking for a forum to present a research paper on an issue related to social justice. Paper panels will have a respondent to give feedback and facilitate conversation. Acceptable submissions include:

Who should submit? |

|
Anyone from the campus or community environment with original works and ideas is invited to submit. Undergraduates are particularly encouraged to submit their work. The top paper submitted by an undergraduate will be awarded the CASCAID Contribution to Advocacy Award and a $250 cash scholarship. |

When to submit? |
|
||||||
|
Submissions will be considered starting April 1, 2008. The deadline for full consideration is April 14, 2008. Papers and proposals received by this date will receive notification of status within 1 week. Abstracts will be accepted for consideration, but full papers are due 2 weeks prior to conference to be considered for the undergraduate prize. Papers received after this time can be presented but will not be eligible for the prize. |
